COVID-19 Vaccination Programme
Srishti Seva Sansthan (SSS), in partnership with Azim Premji Foundation, implemented a COVID-19 vaccination program in Nautanwa block, Maharajganj. The program aimed to address low vaccination rates in the area, which faced challenges such as transportation difficulties, lack of awareness, and vaccine hesitancy.
SSS recruited a team of 1 Programme Manager, 12 Community Health Workers, 4 Data Entry Operators, and 102 Volunteers. The team conducted household surveys, identifying 115,934 eligible individuals (18+). Vaccination camps were organized in coordination with the Health Department, administering 27,386 first doses and 74,535 second doses.
The program faced several challenges, including dual citizenship issues, lack of vaccination cards, limited internet connectivity, misinformation, and vaccine hesitancy. Despite these challenges, the program achieved significant success, with 100% household surveys and data uploaded on Vax-IT.
Best practices included obtaining written permission from the District Magistrate, preparing camp report registers, and utilizing Google Drive for reporting. The program also learned valuable lessons in large-scale data management, rapid response project implementation, and large team management.
The program's financial information showed a sanctioned grant of Rs. 58.95 Lakh and an expenditure of Rs. 55.80 Lakh. Overall, the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme demonstrated SSS's commitment to addressing the pandemic's impact in Maharajganj
