Key Focus Areas

WomenEmpowerment and Gender:

SSS’s role in Women Empowerment and Gender aims at making women self-aware of their rights and thus helping them to take a lead roles in different areas. It also engages local rural bodies for the same. Two types of activities are undertaken in this theme: one aims at building capacities of women and communities and their groups to engage effectively with government and other stakeholders for getting their constitutional and legal social, economic rights and ensure their engagement in health and development activities, the other aims at working directly with local governing bodies for creating an environment that can guarantee the rights of women and access to health services. It also focuses on enhancing women's income generation skills through better agriculture practices. Under various projects formation of local women groups and their capacity building were also done.

ChildRightsProtection,EducationandYouthEmpowerment:

SSS is working for the holistic development of children through advocating for the protection of child rights, right age at marriage and adolescent skill development, health and female education through following interventions: Provision of child shelters for a vulnerable population, missing children, etc. Parent education and awareness programs and making them aware of 1098 services Child rights education and protection awareness at different levels and different stakeholders. Creating adolescent groups for school and out of school adolescents Career building sessions and life skill education for adolescents. Development of Adolescent resource centers.

HumanRights, Povertyalleviationand livelihood creation:

SSS visions that creating productive employment opportunities through capacity building is essential for achieving poverty reduction and sustainable economic and social development. Community-driven awareness programs encourage villages and households to manage their own development resources. Through various projects employment opportunities have been created for women and youth.

Health,Nutrition and HIV prevention:

Health and Nutrition is an important parameter for development. SSS through various projects is: Improving health service delivery access Strengthening RCH activities through eligible couple line listing, early registration of pregnancy, listing and timely referral of high-risk pregnancies to decrease the maternal mortality in the community. Anemia prevention, screening, management, and awareness activities. Institutionalizing VHNDs in project areas Improvement in neonatal and child health through growth monitoring, promotion of timely immunization Organizing events for public health along with the government. Awareness campaigns on health and hygiene. Develop awareness campaigns for HIV prevention, reproductive health; life skills-based education, and sexual rights.

Environment, Agriculture and food security:

SSS is contributing to water conservation, improve utilization and productivity of water, promotion of agriculture, promotion of low water demanding crop varieties and thus ensuring food security

A few of the focused interventions under this thematic area include: Institution and capacity building in water management and agriculture practices. Associated demonstrations of different sustainable and water-efficient practices to enhance crops yield (Cereals, Pulses, Sugarcane, Mentha, Vegetables, etc.) Formation and strengthening of SHGs/ farmers collectives, Farmers’ Resource Centres - FRC, Activate water management committee, and water users groups Promotion of integrated agro-based livelihood activities for marginal farmers Awareness sessions to bring positive change in behavior of community towards water conservation. Facilitate convergence of MNREGAspecifically for supportive activities Conservation of natural resources with special focus on water conservation. Demonstration & promotion of Pusa Hydrogel, drip irrigation and water-friendly agriculture practices like mulching
